Submit a Seminar Proposal
The seminar submission portal is now closed for the 2025 Annual Meeting.
The portal for proposing a seminar for ACLA's 2025 Annual Meeting is open through September 9, 2024. A portal through which to submit paper proposals to seminar organizers will follow on September 13, 2024.
Each seminar meets multiple times (usually 3) to allow for continuous and substantive engagement among the panelists: this emphasis on long-form collaboration characterizes the ACLA conference. For instance, a seminar meeting over 3 days may have up to 12 panelists total, three to four participants presenting 20-minute papers in each session with discussion afterward. We welcome seminars on all topics and areas in Comparative Literature broadly construed. We especially welcome seminars in areas historically underrepresented in humanities.
Along with a Call for Papers titling your seminar, describing its goals, and soliciting paper submissions, please fill out all fields below. Current ACLA guidelines specify that each ACLA member may appear on only one panel, whether as panel organizer or paper presenter, and that each seminar must include both faculty and graduate students. Seminar proposals must be received by ACLA at this portal by September 9, 2024. There are no exceptions.
Submitting a seminar proposal here does NOT guarantee acceptance of your seminar to the ACLA 2025 Annual Meeting.
The ACLA Program Committee will review seminars in relation to one another and the Secretariat will notify seminar organizers of acceptance or rejection by December 17, 2024.
Please note: as a participant, you agree to:
- Be current in ACLA membership and registered for the Annual Meeting by May 1, 2025.
- Reply promptly to all requests for information from the seminar organizer and the ACLA Secretariat, including requests for a final program copy.
- Attend all sessions of the seminar.
- Notify the Secretariat immediately if you are unable to attend the conference.
- Communicate all special requests to seminar organizer and the Secretariat to ensure that they are considered.
- Add info@acla.org to your list of "safe senders" in your email account, ensuring that email communications will be delivered.
For more information about each phase of the process, please view our step-by-step guide and check the Annual Meeting FAQ. Contact info@acla.org with any questions.
