2017 Prize Winner:

This year's Presidential Undergraduate Prize for Best Undergraduate Essay on a Comparative Topic goes to Mary Francis Bradford of Northwestern University, for her paper, "Performing Frida(,) Performing Indigeneity". 

Bradford’s essay is ambitious, and its reflections on the erasures and projections of gender and indigeneity are built on really meticulous research in an archive that addresses relevant current scholarship, historical materials (exhibition catalogs, photos, letters, diaries), and other major literary-theoretical primary sources, along with Kahlo's paintings themselves.
